Zimad-e-Khardal: An Antiemetic Transdermal Unani Formulation

This book authored by Dr. Mohd Nauman Saleem is one of the finest books of its own type and an excellent collection of knowledge. Zimad-e-Khardal is one of the Unani classical formulations used to inhibit nausea and vomiting. But, in spite of the fact that it had been used as an anti emetic formulation, the scientific data regarding its permeation through the skin is not available. In the present study, the formulation based on Khardal (Brassica nigra) and Sirka (Vinegar) was prepared in the form of zimad (paste) to evaluate its transdermal permeation. The qualitative and quantitative analysis were carried out and significant scientific data have been generated regarding the transdermal drug delivery of Zimad-e-Khardal. The results led to the scientific basis of transdermal delivery of Zimad-e-Khardal as well as validated its claim as a transdermal anti-emetic Unani formulation. His novel contribution through this book, especially in the field of Unani Pharmaceutics, will prove to be a superior learning tool for students and researchers.
