Youth Entrepreneurship in Slum

Youth constitute a vital resource group in any society of its sheer power and energy. Enterprises are the places where the jobs are promoting a positive enterprise culture and also a way to facilitate youth employment. This book tries to explore that the slums are not exotic, are not the acts of criminal, vagrant and cunning anti social elements but a ¿chosen¿ method of survival. The author made an attempt to contribute the existing knowledge in social science regarding entrepreneurship among slum youth in the lower class, unorganized sector of society, various traits of entrepreneurship exclusive to the slum youth have been taken into consideration to coin a word called ¿Slum Entrepreneurship¿ (SE) and to develop a tool ¿Slum Entrepreneurship Scale¿ (SES) to measure the level of Entrepreneurship. This book assumes significance since it has been designed from a social work perspective which tries to promote social change, problem solving in human relationships and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being, utilizing theories of human behaviour and social systems to deal with youth in slums those who are potential vulnerable sections of the urban society.
