Women Empowerment through self help groups in SPSR Nellore district

Self Help Group is a charitable association of men or women in similar economic conditions. The members of the Self Help Group make small savings for duration of time until they have enough resources in the group to start their own lending process. These resources can be utilized for lending purposes. In India many SHGs are linked to banking institutions for the delivery of micro-credit. In our country of over121 crore people, where as 83.3 crore live in rural areas and remaining settle in urban areas. Only about 22 per cent of the population is considered to be below poverty line. The Self Help Groups confer knowledge, opportunity, finance and power by making them and also getting them sense of empowerment. The Government of India to create and supply credit facilities for the women development purpose in time to time. Thus the present study is devoted to cover Women Empowerment through Self Help Group (SHGs) in SPSR Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh.
