Wireless Mobile Broadband Technologies for the Future:

A long way in a remarkably short time has been achieved in the history of mobile wireless networks and a host of technologies are competing to deliver commercial mobile broadband services. Thus, a detailed study of future wireless technologies is required in order to establish a clear roadmap to the future mobile broadband. The objective of this Dissertation is to provide a comprehensive overview of future wireless broadband technologies of Third Generation partnership Project (3GPP), High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) along with WiMAX technology. The main emphasis is to review the two 3GPP technologies and WiMAX technology including their history of evolution, technology features, network architecture and future prospects. This dissertation highlights the ecosystem of unrivalled breadth and depth as well as unmatched economies of scale, offered by 3GPP technologies, that benefits all players in the ecosystem.
