Wind Forecasting System - Predicting Wind Energy Generation

Wind energy has attracted a lot of interest around the world and has seen rapid growth over the last decade. This rapid growth is mainly driven by the fact that it is abundant in supply and is environmentally clean. One of the major problems with wind power generation is that it is intermittent and highly unpredictable, which in turn pose challenges for its successful integration in to electrical grid system. Wind power forecasting systems provides a solution to this problem by accurately predicting the amount of electricity generation in advance. In this thesis, we embark on developing a wind power forecasting system that will provide short and medium terms wind power forecasts from individual plants.
