Web Usage Pattern Discovery using Data mining and Statistical analysis

Web sites are one of the well known communication media where very vast information could be spread for visitors¿ right to use. In view of the fact that most of the organizations in the world use web sites to exchange a few words their business , running and better service of the web sites is fundamental point for the benefit of users and/or the organization. The focus of this research study was to analyze a Web usage pattern of AMU official Web site based on both statistical and data mining approaches thereby to see the possibility of this approach for Web usage pattern discovery. The statistical analysis was applied to generate basic statistical reports whereas the data mining technique was applied primarily to get the association rules that can reveal the Web pages/ URLs that are most frequently accessed together by the users. It is believed that the statistical analysis is deemed insufficient to give a full picture of how a given Web site is being used.
