We Can Do It!

Women: the weaker sex! This belief controlled the living conditions of women since the beginning of creation till the end of the 19th and the early 20th centuries when women started to revolt against the norms of their society in order to find a leading path towards their own freedom. When women encounter failure in attaining their own freedom and realizing their own strength, they end in frustration. This book is a linguistic exploration of the frustration of three female protagonists whose stories were written by three landmarks in the genre of short stories: Kate Chopin, William Faulkner, and Charlotte Perkins Gilman. The book identifies a linguistic model of analysis which is solely devoted to short stories; this model investigates how gender is linguistically constructed in the three short stories on the discourse, sentence, and word levels. The book proves that the three short stories are psychologically narrated from a female perspective, so it highlights the interrelation between stylistics and feminism.
