Waste Free Manufacturing Using Lean Paradigms: Case Study Of A SME

Wastes are present in the industries in the form of layers at macro level and at micro level. The Elimination of all wastes cannot be achieved overnight. It requires years of continuous improvement efforts for elimination of the wastes present in the system. The identification of vital wastes which have more impact on the performance of the organization and the selection of the detailed mapping tools for the identification of waste at micro level is a complex decision making problem. In this book the principals of lean manufacturing have been adopted for minimization of waste that exist in the manufacturing industries in the form of operational inefficiency and leads to increase in the production cost and the manufacturing lead time.
