Vittorio Monti - Czardas

Countless arrangements and transcriptions allow the Czardas by Vittorio Monti (1868–1922) to shine in ever new tonal colours – yet the original version for violin and accompaniment stands unchallenged in terms of popularity. The fiery dance for the violin almost made its creator a “one-hit wonder”, although Monti was far more prolific as a composer. This work accompanies violinists throughout their lives: as their virtuosity grows, even advanced players find ever new technical and musical challenges within it.This edition, prepared to the usual high Henle standards, enables an authentic and stylistically convincing rendition. Thus, Monti’s Hungarian temperament blazes undiminished on the violin – a guaranteed hit with audiences from first study to the concert platform!
