Video games are gaining ground day by day in the pedagogical field, particularly in second language teaching. However, even with the benefits that have been demonstrated through various research studies, the use of video games as a teaching tool is not evident in the Bachelor's Degree in Modern Languages at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Since it is considered that the educational practices of teachers and students are shaped by their beliefs, this paper aims to find the reasons for the lack of use of this tool by analysing and describing the beliefs of students and teachers regarding the use of video games as a tool for teaching second languages.
