Beschreibung
[Embodied Truth: Jesus Christ and the Theological Justification of the Church]
The Church refers to Jesus Christ as its foundation, but all too often fails to recognize that he existed in a precarious bodily form and fostered community in a disturbing way. The book addresses this enduring Christological challenge to the Church. From a bodily-theoretical perspective, it elaborates on a negative, disruptive, and estranging aspect of Christian truth and, at the same time, asks to what extent Christianity is in danger of seeking to guarantee the unity, identity, and stability of its ecclesial community by referring to the social body of the Church instead of Christ, as it were.
To counter this, it develops a reinterpretation of the »power« of the Holy Spirit that guides the Church. It interprets the Spirit of Christ as a sensual-affective energy that creates unrest and trouble in the social embodiments of the Church and at the same time sacramentally realigns them.
