Ventilator Care Bundle

Ventilator associated pneumonia is the 2nd most fatal nosocomial infection worldwide. It accounts for 15% of all hospital acquired infections and has been documented as 1st leading cause of death from all hospital acquired infections. This alarming situation requires nurses to incorporate evidence-based practices to reduce the burden of this lethal disease. Different strategies have been recommended and implemented to preclude VAP; ventilator bundle is one of them. Even though knowledge of ventilator bundle does not give surety of ventilator bundle implementation but insufficient knowledge may be an obstacle to practice VAP prevention guidelines. So this research was undertaken with an objective to assess critical care nurses¿ level of knowledge as well as practices regarding ventilator care bundle.
