UTILIZATION OF DIGITAL COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES IN AGRICULTURE

Agricultural extension is an educational service or system in which new technologies are transferred from research stations to extension functionaries and finally to farmers. Agricultural extension assists farmers through educational procedures in improving farming methods and techniques, increasing production efficiency and income, improving their levels of living, and lifting the social and economic standards of people. In the present era, new avenues in the form of digital and communication technology (DCT) are being used for the dissemination of agricultural information. Modern digital and communication technologies (DCT) tools like agricultural mobile apps, mobile SMS services, e-learning, video conferencing, e-mail, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Twitter, blogs, Wikipedia, and web portals. Another Kisan Krishideepam, IFFCO Kisan App, e-NAM, Kisan Kerala, Agri-Media App, e-SAP, Kisan Mitra, Telephone, Films, Slides, Radio, etc., are tools that use wireless communication technology along with powerful software that can process and integrate sound, text, and video into electronic media.
