Utility of Laser in management of Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis

Several treatment options are described in the literature with reference to the management of RAS, one among these is ¿LASER¿. Whenever drug treatment proves necessary, because the outbreaks are continuous and the pain affects patient quality of life, the first option is a topical treatment. Systemic drug treatment is indicated when the outbreaks are constant and aggressive, with major aphthae, the pain is intense, and topical treatment is unable to afford symptoms relief. During the management of RAS by using systemic drugs, the possibility of side effects must be taken into account. However, Laser therapy results in immediate relief from pain on a single application in RAS. The laser reduces the duration of ulcers and promotes healing with no side effects.
