Use of E-resources in Research Centres: The Case of KALRO in Kenya

ICT revolution has led to the exponential growth of electronically available information resources such as e-books, e-journals, web resources and e-databases for fulfilling the day-to-day teaching, learning, recreational and research requirements of users. This has put pressure on research organizations to provide the necessary electronic infrastructure and actual access to digital content. Effectiveness of e-resources in research and their material, human and financial cost is usually justified by optimum usage. This study critically examines access to and use of e-resources at Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) in Nairobi and has implications on current and future investment in electronic information products and services that meet the needs of technical staff at KALRO and similar research institutions in Africa. The book is based on an MSc. research project and is invaluable to researchers, students, information workers and faculty members at institutions of higher learning.
