Urbanization Effect on Rainfall in Kano Metropolis

The relationship between urbanization and rainfall has not been fully understood because of its high variability in time and space. This work attempt to unravel some of the mystery associated with this relationship by undertaking a comparative study on urbanization on rainfall in the highly urbanized city of Kano metropolis using Kadawa village as control. This work is also an answer to the call of US weather research panel for more observational and modelling work in cities around the World.The result from the study shows a weak positive correlation between rainfall and urbanization at 0.05 significant level. This implies that urbanization as depicted by population increase alone cannot be used to explain incidence of increased rainfall in cities.
