UNDERSTANDING EXAMINATION MALPRACTICES IN KENYA

Public Examinations normally are intended to serve a number of functions.The most obvious is to assess the competence of students'' learning ,relative to some agreed criteria.The results are then frequently used to discriminate among students with regard to their preferred careers,further education or employment or fit into the societal strata.The high stakes ,for instance better careers and further studies,pegged to examinations at secondary level have given rise to many forms of examination malpractices in many developing as well as developed countries.This book explores the examination malpractices as well as the perceptions of the various stakeholders of the examination malpractices.The book is intended to benefit students, scholars and institutions with specific interest in National examination administration at secondary level.It is the belief of the author that the uncontrollable pollution of our education standards occasioned by rampant examination malpractices at KCSE is pointing towards the wrong direction for the entire educational establishment.This book is an eye opener to window of hope for curbing examination malpractices experienced every year at KCSE.
