Understanding and fighting cancer metastases

The main aim of this book is to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of knowledge about cancer metastasis. We will explore the fundamental mechanisms of metastatic dissemination, methods of diagnosis and evaluation, as well as current and emerging therapeutic strategies. Our specific objectives are to:- Describe in detail the biological processes underlying metastasis formation, from molecular mechanisms to interaction with the microenvironment.- Present the diagnostic tools used to detect and characterize metastasis, highlighting advances in imaging and molecular biology.- Analyze the different therapeutic approaches available for metastatic cancers, discussing their mechanisms of action, efficacy and limitations.- Highlight current challenges in the management of metastases, such as resistance to treatment and tumor heterogeneity.- Present future prospects for metastasis research, exploring new therapeutic targets and innovative approaches.
