UNDERSTANDING ADOPTION OF INTER-ORGANISATIONAL SYSTEMS

Dr Md Mahbubur Rahim studied the adoption of inter- organisational systems (IOS) from the perspective of organisationsal motivations. IOS constitute the back- bone of electronic business (e-business) and have the potential to bring considerable benefits to organisations. By developing a comprehensive model and using a multiple case study approach in the Australian pharmaceutical industry, Dr Rahim demonstrated that organisational motivations predict the IOS adoption processes and the benefits that are likely to arise from the adoption of these systems. His study is useful for effective planning of IOS project implementation and provides an alternative perspective to better understand the IOS adoption phenomenon.
