UN Role to Maintain International Peace and Security in Syria

The crisis in Syria is nearing an end. Syrian diplomacy and military prowess appear to have achieved significant progress in the tenth year of the conflict. This book answers the following question: ¿To what extent will the interventions of the permanent members of the UN Security Council give an opportunity for consensual negotiation between the warring parties and why a peaceful settlement and a meaningful political solution on the issue of the Syrian civil war has not been reached so far, despite the huge efforts of the UN Special Envoy?" For this reason, I spent a great deal of time researching and writing about the Syrian crisis, which has had a huge impact both on the Syrian interior and on the rest of the world, as well as on the four United Nations special envoys from 2011 to 2021, and on the challenges they face in their efforts to find a political solution. This book will answer these questions according to a qualitative approach based on international laws and charters, official documents, books, academic articles and other electronic references, in addition to some interviews, by studying the successive events since the beginning of the crisis until today.
