Transcendental Pragmatics

The German philosopher Karl-Otto Apel sought to promote a transformation of philosophy by incorporating the pragmatic-linguistic turn into a new form of transcendental philosophy that takes argumentation as its starting point. The great thesis of transcendental pragmatics is the thesis that the claim of substantiation of Kant's transcendental philosophy can only be deepened and rescued through a strict reflection on the conditions of possibility and validity claims of the discourse itself in a strict reflection on the act of arguing. The death of Karl-Otto Apel, in 2017, made me want to pay, on my part, this small tribute to the greatness of his thought and the courage to seek to establish new perspectives for contemporary philosophy.
