Transarterial Chemoembolization of Liver Cancer. Efficacy and Safety

Liver cancer is worldwide health problem. There are many patients of hepatocellular carcinoma on top of liver cirrhosis. Transarterial chemoemolization is a palliative therapeutic method for hepatocellular carcinoma mainly multifocal large size lesions, and leasions not suitable for surgery or locoregional therapy. This procedure depends on delivering chemotherapeutic agents and interruption of tumor arterial blood supply. However, transarterial chemoembolization is not applicable for all patients because of its complications as liver decompensation. A good choice must be made to determine patients who need this precedure. It is imporatnt to make individualization for every case to select case who can get benefit and avoid the risk of this procedure.
