Tourism Planning and Development in Badagry, Lagos, Nigeria

Rural tourism offers a possible solution to the problems associated with lost economic opportunities and population decline that accompany the dwindling fortune of agriculture. Moreover, many governments and regional authorities have embraced rural tourism as an opportunity to bring new vitality into rural regions, stimulating growth, providing employment opportunities and helping to halt rural decline. Rural tourism in Badagry offers opportunities in terms of Slave relics and fantastic ocean view among others. Some Rural areas already have flourishing tourism enterprises. Others do not have much tourism activity and tourism is not relevant to their development. This book therefore, evaluates tourism potentials in Badagry Local Government Area as a means to improving Local economy for local people. That is, the aim of this book is to explore the linkage between tourism businesses and poor people as means for community development, poverty reduction and making poor people to participate more effectively in tourism development.
