Beschreibung
Biomass is the renewable source of energy while coal is the nonrenewable source of energy. Pretreatment of biomass is necessary before using it for energy production. By pretreatment of biomass with heat we can enhance its calorific energy value and hydrophobicity. Torrefaction is the mild pyrolysis in which heat is supplied to biomass in muffle furnace or in a reactor from 2000C to 3000C. On laboratory scale we use Muffle furnace while on large scale reactors is used for the torrefaction of biomass.
