To Analyze and Optimize Tribomechanical Properties of Babbitt

An effort is made to develop stir casted low cost Babbitt/Ilmenite composite under controlled conditions and to carry out experimental investigation and optimization of the tribo-mechanical properties of the fabricated composite using Taguchi philosophy. The improvement in the tribo-mechanical characteristics of the Babbitt/Ilmenite composite at the optimized conditions in comparison to the Tin-Babbitt alloy is reported in the book. There is an ever increasing demand of low cost high performance novel materials in cutting-edge engineering applications. The results reported in the paper would not only attract researchers for further investigations but also encourage industrialists to manufacture the composite on large scale for heavy load and high speed bushings in automobile and aerospace applications at relatively low cost.
