Thin Film CdS-CdTe Solar Cell

The purpose of our present work is to fabricate and study the structural and electrical properties of CdS-CdTe thin films heterojunction solar cell. In this work, we have initially grown the CdS thin film layer on SnO2 coated glass substrate by chemical bath deposition method. Then the CdTe layer was deposited on this CdS layer by using physical vapour deposition method using vacuum coating unit. After successful fabrication of heterojunction ¿CdS-CdTe¿ solar cell, we have tested it for various characterizations such as, X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), thickness measurement, resistivity measurement and I-V characteristics. This research work was conducted in the department of physics at Z .B. Patil College, Dhule and submitted to North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon in 2009.
