This book ¿Thermal Model, Weld Formation and Characterization of FSW¿ deals with development of thermal model, prediction thermal cycle during the friction stir welding process, temperature measurement, weld formation and mechanical characterization of friction stir welding process.The first chapter deals with the introduction about process operation, process parameters, process modeling, microstructural changes and mechanical characterization of friction stir welding. This also reports the need for the study, objectives and methodology of this book. The second and third chapter presents the thermal modal for friction stir welding of aluminium alloy, mild steel and stainless steel. The fourth chapter discusses the experimental setup, temperature measurement, defect size measurement, hardness measurement and tensile testing of friction stir welded plates of aluminium alloy. The fourth chapter discusses the finite element modeling and simulation of friction stir welding of aluminium alloy, mild steel and stainless steel. The fifth chapter presents the experiment of friction stir welding. The sixth, seventh and eight chapter presents the thermal history of aluminium alloy, mild steel.
