Theory and Practice of US Foreign Policy towards Africa

This study was conducted in Uganda East Africa, with the main objective of establishing the nature and characteristics of the United States of Americäs Foreign policy towards Africa with reference to Uganda. The study analyzed the US foreign policy principle of democracy, good governance and accountability which as considered fundamental to the promotion of human rights. The study was occasioned by the observed continued human rights and governance deterioration in Uganda on one hand and increased relations between the US and Uganda government while arm twisting other governments on the continent to implement democratic reforms like Kenya, leading to questions such as; does the US foreign policy discriminate African countries, or it is universal?, what is the secret behind US-Uganda relations? And how do Ugandans perceive the US foreign policy towards their Country? These and other questions were answered through an exploratory research design using both questionnaires and interview guide, to assess Ugandans¿ perception of US ¿Uganda relations.
