The Yugoslav model of socialism and its collapse

The present work of Hungarian economist D. Shimon Jr. is devoted to the analysis of almost half a century of socialist construction experience in Yugoslavia and the reasons for its unsuccessful outcome. This country, having departed at an early stage of socialism building from a classical variant of administrative-command system, aspired to development of market relations and active participation in world economic relations, having created the first and yet unique in the world self-regulated socialist economy. The research is based on rich factual material. It is intended not only for specialists, but also for all those who are interested in alternative economic systems and problems of economic history connected with theory and practice of socialist construction.
