The backwardness of almost all African countries have been severally explained away by Western intellectuals as the result of lack of capacity for organizing productive societies that have what it took to conquer their environments. They point at hunger, poverty, disease, corruption, ethnic contentions, over dependence on religion, dearth of infrastructure and political instability as some of the characteristics of the present day African countries. These attributes were supposed to be explained by the prevalence of corrupt, visionless leaders on the continent who take so much delight in stowing away their countries¿ resources in foreign bank accounts. For other it is the inability to organise democratic systems that cherish and uphold the Rule of Law. That may be partially true but the truth is that the Neo Colonial arrangement by the Western world is largely responsible for the backwardness of African countries. In this well researched book, the Author uses the Nigerian experience to demonstrate how the British Neo Colonial arrangements in Nigeria has led to the ruination of the country. It is a book that explains the backwardness of Nigeria, in spite of her enormous resources.
