The security crisis and household food vulnerability in Bangui

The general objective of this study is to analyse the food vulnerability of households in Bangui during a security crisis. This general objective is followed by two specific objectives: i) to assess the impact of the security situation on the living conditions of households in Bangui; ii) to identify the main features of food vulnerability at household level and their coping strategies. The central research question is: what is the impact of the security crisis on household food vulnerability in Bangui? Firstly, the security situation and living conditions of households in Bangui have deteriorated, since a transformation and an increase in household vulnerability have been observed over the past decade. Secondly, in a security crisis situation, households would be characterised by extreme poverty and would adapt by reducing expenditure on non-essential goods and the number of meals.
