The Role of the Acholi Traditional Institutions in Peace-building

Humanity by nature is challenged by behaviors that sometimes influence personal traits towards derailed peaceful co-existence. These are in most cases exhibited through uncontrolled emotional reactions characterized of hatreds, violence, and conflicts/wars. Apart from the loss of lives and property that conflict and violence may result into, many nations have today failed to prosper towards sustained development. Nevertheless, advocates of societal peace for sustained development have tried to see that something is done to ensure peaceful co-existence at individual, household, community, national, and at global levels. Formal and informal conflict management structures have been seen to exist and function (at every societal establishment) on the execution roles against behaviors that triggers violence and developmental destructions. Cultural institutions is one of the informal peace building structures whose administrative roles targets establishing, enforcing and maintaining peaceful co-existence at individual, household, community, nation, and at global levels.
