The practice of school leadership

This books gives insight on the nature and practice of school leadership practice in Ethiopian public schools. In addition it indicate the role of political body (government ) in the educational leadership.The effectiveness of schools mainly depends on the quality of the leader or the ability of the principal to organize and lead the school. They should select appropriate leadership styles, modify their practices and shape their school managerial environment to ensure that it is conducive to the instructional context and school success Therefore, school leaders should identify and apply leadership practices that encourage good working conditions, collaboration, a shared mission and job satisfaction among teachers.This book assessed the nature of school leadership based on transformational and instructional leadership theories. Mainly mal-leadership practice and political interference in school system are the cause for teachers low job satisfaction and low school achievement. To improve observed problems it is recommend that, transformational , instructional and protective leadership style should be practiced in a situational way.
