The place of commodities in asset management

If there is one area that is often in the news, it is commodities. Whether it is the meteoric rise in the price of gold, the endless fall in oil prices, or the soaring price of chocolate, raw materials are constantly in the news on television and in print. Not only to evoke their price variations or quantities produced, but also to talk about their central stake in geopolitics, especially on oil issues, and their capacity to disrupt the whole functioning of the world, thanks in particular to renewable energies that allow a new management of the world. Today, commodities have become an asset class in their own right, playing a key role in this exceptional environment combining historically low interest rates, reduced upside potential and constantly decreasing risk premiums for traditional asset classes. Judging by historical results, commodities offer many advantages and are becoming an increasingly important part of investors' portfolio allocation.
