What is it in us that responds so deeply to breath, to sound, to touch, to silence?
The Living Tree is the second book in the Tree Books series, following The Tree of Mirrors. Where the first book explored the language of symbols through Tarot, mythology, Kabbalah, and astrology, this one turns inward, towards the body itself: not as matter alone, but as a field of subtle organisation, living patterns, and unfolding experience.
Across sixteen chapters, it explores Samkhya and Ayurveda, the chakra system, Daoist body maps, meridians, sacred geometry, mudras, breathwork and pranayama, affirmations, Reiki, the elemental body, and sound healing with singing bowls and tuning forks. These perspectives come together in a closing chapter through the image that gives the book its name.
Each tradition offers its own map. None is complete on its own, and none is forced into agreement with the others. Yet each points towards a shared intuition: that we are layered, continually unfolding, and capable of transformation at depths that thought alone cannot reach.
Not a technical manual, though practice has its place. Not an academic argument, though it draws on traditions of considerable depth. Rather, an invitation to explore, reflect, and discover.
The Living Tree stands on its own, while readers of The Tree of Mirrors will recognise the continuity.
Written for those drawn not only to the symbols through which we interpret life, but also to the living body through which we experience it.
