The Influence of Poverty on Crime Among Abanyole of Emuhaya, Kenya

Poverty has a great influence on crime in Emuhaya District of Western Kenya. Absolute poverty is caused by lack of resources necessitate the livelihood of people in communities. Poverty is caused by massive inequality in distribution of resource among Abanyole of Emuhaya leading to serious economic challenges and crime. These implies that significant relatipoverty contributed unemployment, illiteracy, level of education, poor investment, lack of property that generated criminal offences and activities such as drugs and substance, sexual violence, burglary, robbery, physical violence,gender-based violence,juvenile delinquency , illicit brews alcoholism, trade in narcotic drugs, stealing of property, embezzlement, corruption, bribery. Crime against humanity such as suicide, murder, physical violence, gender-based violence, domestic violence, child abuse and starvation.this call for improved system of education, legal framework and economic empowerment of households to reduce poverty traps and crime in Kenya in general.
