The impact of the Internet resources on library services

The book primarily addresses the impact of the Internet resources on library services. A field study has been conducted to assess how Sudanese librarians perceived and utilized the Internet resources, and what are the impact of those resources on library technical works. The study on which the book has been based aims at assessing the Sudanese librarians¿ Information Technology (IT) skills, their access to and frequency of IT usage, as well as examining the patterns of their usage of web-based resources. Particular emphasis has been placed on the patterns of email usage in library services and the extent to which professional web sites are utilized in helping with library technical work and the frequency of using these sites in this regard. The book also seeks to assess the Sudanese librarians¿ degree of awareness regarding the impact of the Internet resources on training and development, including the contribution of these resources in self-training programs, acquisition of new professional skills and dealing with budget cuts. Furthermore, the book looks at the barriers to the use of the Internet resources by Sudanese librarians and their perceptions in this respect.
