The Impact of ICT on Unemployment Rate: The Nigerian Case

Is ICT a useful tool in the pursuance of economic development? If yes, how does it affect unemployment rate (which is a major factor in measuring economic development)? This book, in answering these questions, empirically measures the impact of ICT on unemployment rate in Nigeria from 1985 - 2011. With data gotten from both the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) statistical bulletin, a Classical Linear Regression Model was adopted for this check. The result of this work will be of much benefit to the individuals, researchers, institutions and governments who, in pursuit of economic development, seek to appreciate and harness the opportunities brought about by ICT innovations in reducing unemployment rate while avoiding its possible negative side-effects.
