The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Motivation

As several studies and theoretical models have demonstrated, the concepts of motivation and emotional intelligence are intertwined. An emotionally intelligent individual has the ability to mobilise all the emotions necessary to motivate and overcome any obstacles that might go their way, both intrinsic and extrinsic, until their achieve their objectives. These concepts can be applied to all types of situations, be them organizational or personal. Because of the importance of well-being to the lives of individuals, this paper aims to study the implications of Emotional Intelligence on Motivation within a military organization. This study was conducted thanks to the participation of approximately 355 military respondents within a universe of 7314, from all areas of the Air Force. The degree of sociability between certain sociodemographic variables and the impact of emotional intelligence on motivation were also studied. As human beings are naturally social creatures, it is imperative for us to learn to control our emotions and to motivate ourselves when necessary.
