The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Applications in Concrete Pavements

This book aims to outline the established Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) applications for the concrete pavements that are currently under development or not yet commonly applied. GPR is a non-destructive method for exploring hidden objects by detecting variations in the electromagnetic properties of materials, primarily the permittivity. The use of GPR to gain information on pavement structures has considerably increased over the past decades. This investigation presents an introduction to the method and a review of its applications in concrete pavements. The principles of the GPR systems¿ operation, with a discussion of both signal processing and data interpretation practices, are summarized in this study to provide a review of the current and future uses of GPR for concrete pavement analysis. This book reports the features and limitations of GPR for further progresses in concrete pavement surveys. The current developments and what may be possible in the future with advances in equipment and processing capability are reviewed.
