The first book in America

A topic that has been forgotten despite its importance is the arrival of the printing press in America and the publication of the first book, La Santa Escala de San Juan Clímaco. In this book we show what were the reasons for selecting this work by Fray Domingo de Betanzos and translating it into Spanish by Fray Juan de la Magdalena.In order to achieve the evangelization of the natives, the Dominican religious realized the importance of preparing the novices in the world of virtue, so it was important for them to have books to deepen their studies. The printing press had caused a cultural revolution, so they sought a way to bring it to promote education, culture and evangelization.This book will be of great use to historians, art historians, theologians, printers and educators.
