The exhibition design or the artist´s wish: the dilemma

Within the framework of contemporary art, the exhibition montage may be at odds with the artist wish. The whim of new owners, a lack of information, changes in artist ¿s mind and museum limitations are often the cause of the above mentioned. This book devotes itself to an array of recent examples, the legal framework applicable to the relationship between the artist, the museum and the owner, as well as to the new museum strategies. Hence, these pages will go over its causes and consequences, the role of different intervening factors (the artist, his work, the owner, the public or the exhibition montage). Divergent opinions regarding this issue constitute a true challenge for museums when having to decide whether a strategy is respectful with the purpose of the artist in different contexts.
