The environmental variable:internalising sustainable development

How have companies appropriated and internalized the discussion on the concept of Sustainable Environmental Development? The reading aims to study the relationship between economic growth and the environment within companies, but precisely companies that have achieved NBR ISO 14001:2004 certification. Based on the contribution of the Neoclassical Economy and Ecological Economy currents, the processes of appropriation of the subject of Sustainable Development by the business sector via environmental certification are discussed.
