The effects of diet and some antimalarial drugs on some haematological indices were investigated in albino rats and in humans. In particular it was to provide a partial answer to the hitherto unknown aetiology, of neutropema in Africans. In the first part of the work, rats were fed ad libitum on different dietary formulations for four weeks. The rats were randomized into four groups of five rats each. A standard well balanced diet consisting of high protein, high fat and standard diet plus vitamin supplement were given to the animals. At the end of the experiment, blood samples were collected by cardiac puncture.
