The effect of re-education and sensitization of teachers

Specific learning disabilities (SLD) have a significant impact on the academic success of children with these disorders. The academic prognosis of these students is closely linked to early detection and early and appropriate treatment. It is therefore important for teachers to be well informed about these disorders. In this context, the objective of our project was to raise awareness among teachers of students with ASD (dyslexia or dysorthographia) who are already receiving speech therapy, and to evaluate the effect of this awareness on their academic performance. To do this, we developed a booklet explaining these disorders, which we distributed to teachers. We compared the academic results of these children (in oral and written expression in both Arabic and French) before and after sensitization of their teachers. Results: Twenty school children were included, and 19 teachers. We observed an improvement in the general averages for all levels.
