The Effect of Geotechnical and Technical Factors in Road of Basrah

Some roads in Basra Governorate suffer from catastrophic failure in the roads as cracks, crashes, subsidence, and holes in the roads. Based on the urgent need to relate this issue to the daily life of citizens, the impact of geotechnical and technical factors on performing Basra Governorate roads has been studied. Sixteen sites were selected in Basra Governorate, which are West Qurna, AlMedina, Al-Dir, Al-Hartha, Shatt Al-Arab, Al-Tuwaisa, Hayy-Al-Hussein, AlShuaiba, Al-Maqal, Al-Gazar, Al-Ashar, Abu-Al-Khaseeb, Umm Qasser,Petrochemical Factory, Al-Fao, and Al-Zubair up to 3m depth to study the influence of factors Geotechnics on the roads. Six locations in Basra Governorate were also selected, including Umm Qasser, Al- Shuaiba, Hayy-Al-Hussein, Abu-Al-Khaseeb, Al Zubair, and Basra airport, to study the effect of technical factors on roads.
