In the sixties, pre-graduate students in South Africa were taught that atherosclerosis almost never occurred in Black patients; this questionable wisdom perpetuated by studies on blood lipid levels and others regarding prisoners (with diets far from affluent and physical exercise usually post-exhaustion) (Personal observation).
