The benefits of sage officinale on hepato-renal toxicity

Herbal medicine is one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world. In recent decades, more and more importance has been attached to natural substances. In this context, we set out to carry out an ethnopharmocological study of the traditional and medical use of noble laurel in Northern Tunisia, as well as the nutritional quality and biological activities in terms of antioxidant and antibacterial power of wild and cultivated noble laurel leaves. The survey carried out in the Bizerte and Tabarka regions revealed that the plant is used in traditional medicine to treat a wide range of pathologies, including those of the digestive tract, respiratory system disorders and sore throats. The results of the present study also show that both L . nobilis extracts present a potential source of phytonutrients with health-promoting properties. Overall, L. nobilis leaves can be considered as potential natural antioxidants and antibacterial agents with a chemical composition suitable for ruminant feed.
