The Accused's Right to Bail

Respect and protection of Human Rights for the accused person is vital in any criminal trial, but the challenges generated from criminal law litigation and procedures represents a real problem of not only the law but also the enforcement mechanisms against the accused/suspects. Improper management of the right to bail in criminal cases causes a direct justice impact on the community, the families and on the Government particularly the Prison sector. Every day, relatively large number of potentially innocent people and whose charges/allegations have not yet been proved by the Prosecutions beyond reasonable doubt before the court of law are generated in the prisons and police custody and other facilities around the world. All these posses violations of human rights for the accused persons. The present Book deals with the basic issues as indicated above, problems relating to criminal law and procedure of handling the accused's right to bail. It also intends to create awareness among est the personnel involved in criminal law and procedures in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.
