Textile Industry Workers: Health Issues and Cytogenetic Assessment

Occupational exposures to different chemical agents such as dyes and solvents in textile industry pose serious health hazards including cancer. Long term occupational exposures even at low doses can lead to serious health implications. Most of the human cancers arise as a direct consequence of environmental exposure to mutagenic and carcinogenic agents mainly through diet, habit and occupation. Textile industry workers employed under various categories are exposed to different sets of dyes, solvents and fibre dust. Thus, the assessment of health hazards prevailing in this industry is really important. The book presents a schematic review of various health hazards posed by chemicals used in textile industry.
